Swine Flu Raises Health Concerns: May Cause Travel Restrictions

The swine flu has been and is continuing to spread very fast throughout the United States and worldwide. It has now spread to over 10 different countries and over 2,500 people are believed to have been infected.

The result of the swine flu spreading and nearly reaching pandemic stage includes many different things but one of the most significant things is the travel restrictions that some countries are being to impose.

So far most countries such as the United States, Japan, Britain, France, Canada, and Australia have not put any official restrictions on travel but have been recommending to their citizens that they not travel to Mexico except in emergency situations. As I said before, there haven’t been any travel bans from these nations but it is everybody is predicting some of these countries will soon impose bans on ground and air travel.

The few countries that have imposed travel restrictions include Cuba and Argentina. These two countries have banned all flights to and arriving from Mexico.

In spite of any travel restrictions CDC officials believe that the spread of the Swine Flu will continue to be fast and widespread. I agree with this and feel that any travel bans will be imposed long after they would have been most effective.
